Privacy Policy

What we collect
- Account data — email, name, optional avatar.
- Financial data — bank, M-Pesa, and card statements you upload; the transactions, accounts, budgets, and categories derived from them.
- Usage data — anonymous analytics about which features you use, to improve the product.
How we use it
- To run BudgeterPro — parse your statements, classify transactions, render reports.
- To send you essential account emails (sign-up confirmation, security alerts).
- To improve the product. We never sell or rent your data.
Statement and invoice uploads
When you upload a statement or an invoice, the file is sent to our AI parsing partner (Anthropic) for extraction. We keep the original file against the import it produced, so you can open the document a figure came from, and so a failed read can be retried without asking you to find it again. You can delete an import, which deletes the file with it.
Password-protected PDFs are unlocked in memory only. Neither the password nor the unlocked text is written to our database — what we keep is the original, still-protected file, which is no more readable to us than it was before you sent it.
Data residency
Your data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database. We do not transfer your financial records to third parties for marketing purposes.
Your rights
- Access — see your data from the dashboard at any time.
- Correction — edit any transaction, budget, or account directly in the app.
- Deletion — request account deletion; data is purged within 30 days.
- Export — request a full export by emailing us.
